As we continue to think about transforming education and providing the workforce of the future, school/corporate partnerships are critical. Whether the partnership consists of work-based learning opportunities, internships, guest speakers, funding or other areas of support, the corporate community plays a huge role in student development and building the talent pipeline. Since opening our doors in August of 2014, AREVA has been an active partner of the Charlotte Engineering Early College. AREVA has played an active role on our advisory board and provided numerous guest speakers focused on exposing our students to what it is like to be an engineer.
In celebration of National Nuclear Science Week, AREVA has once again shown their commitment to our school. With a contribution of more than $7,500, AREVA is presenting new Apple MacBook Air laptops to our teachers. Before students can effectively use technology in the classroom, teachers must increase their comfort level and capacity. The laptops will be used to support teachers in their efforts to introduce students to nuclear science and engineering and to enhance STEM education with a focus on the energy industry. Technology is used daily to support our classroom instruction.
Charlotte Engineering Early College appreciates AREVA’s financial support and partnership. We look forward to further developing our relationship that will result in college scholarships, design projects, special training programs, internships and ultimately, job opportunities for the future.
