The U.S. Department of Energy loan guarantees have been a hot topic in Washington since President Obama’s State of the Union call for “building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country,” and his proposal to include an additional $36 billion for the loan guarantee program in his 2011 budget.
